Dan Pilcher was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 23, 1919 to Ira and Gladys Pilcher. He graduated from Central High School in Tulsa where he excelled in track and wrestling. He enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming. While in Wyoming, he was able to continue running track and was part of a relay team that held the track record at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. Soon after, he was sent to Europe where he was a Quartermaster during the D-Day invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he helped ship US soldiers home from Europe, and was honorably discharged from the Army as a Sergeant. Dan was married for 65 years to his wife Nino Pilcher and worked for Texaco as a Land Man for 35 years. After early retirement from Texaco, he continued working as an independent oil producer. Dan is survived by his three children, Michele (Terry) Fruits of Edmond, Kelly (Kirk) Peterson of Crystal Lake, Illinois, and Dan (Emily) Pilcher of OKC; grandchildren, Paige (Logan Cox) Fruits, Alex Fruits, Katie Peterson, Kristin Peterson, Kalvin Peterson, Sophie Pilcher and Grace Pilcher. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brother, Devere, sister, Gwendlyn Ashwill, and cousin, Howard Johnson. Dan was known and loved by many people. He enjoyed working with the Oklahoma Landman's Association. He loved all sports, but especially golf, which he often joked that it got easier to shoot his age since he played regularly until nearly his 96th birthday. Dan passed away on March 19, 2016 at home, surrounded by his family. The family would like to thank Sheryl and Frank of Escanlante Home Care for their help with Dad. We are blessed to have had his love, advice and generosity for so many years. A memorial service will be held on April 1, 2016 at 1:30 at Smith & Kernke May Chapel.
