Dan W. Holman, 80, passed away on June 28, 2018 at his home in Oklahoma City. A prayer service will be held Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 9 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 2400 W. Hefner Road, Oklahoma City.
Dan was born in Cloudcroft, New Mexico to "Boss" Bernard Holman and Emma Jean Holman on November 30, 1937. Dan, his mother, and younger brother Gene Raymond moved to Oklahoma City shortly after the death of his father. Dan was a member of the U.S. Marine Corp; entering on the "buddy plan" with five of his friends. He later attended Central State University. He married Sally Sanders in 1960 in Oklahoma City. Dan began his career as a residential and commercial construction contractor. He was honored for his work with the Oklahoma Minority Business Contractors Association and later went on to complete several projects with the Environmental Protection Agency. In his later years, Dan worked for the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Library System as their Renovation Contractor.
Dan has been a member of St. Eugene Catholic Church since the early 1960's. He was a member of the Choctaw Nation, and very proud of his Native American heritage.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Boss and Emma Jean, and grandson Michael McDermitt. Dan is survived by his wife Sally Holman and their 5 daughters; Theresa Holman, Mary Kay Phillips and her husband Dennis, Margaret Reynolds and her husband Brad, Susie Murray and her husband Mark, and Amy Holman and her fiancé Dennis Coon, and by his brother Gene Raymond Holman and his wife Paula. He is survived by his grandchildren, Matthew Holman, Christopher McDermitt, Joseph Bowen, Brian Vann, Thomas Vann, Kevin Vann, Kathryn Vann, James Reynolds, Sarah Reynolds, Samantha Reynolds, Sean Murray, Grace Murray, and Allison Holman, as well as his great grandchildren Emma Holman, Jude McDermitt, and Laylah Vann. He will be dearly missed.
