David Bryan Sprouse went to be in the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the age of 49 after a sudden illness caused him to spend 6 weeks in an induced coma at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. David was born July 24th,1965 to Randall and Joann Sprouse in Asheville, North Carolina. He graduated as valedictorian from Madison High School, Marshall, North Carolina in 1983. He attended the University of North Carolina at Asheville and obtained a Bachelors in Computer Engineering. David enlisted in the United States Navy in 1985. He then attended 2 years of fire control training for the Navy in Illinois before transferring to the USS David R Ray in California where he served a total of 9 years. David then acquired a position with Simplex and made the trip to Newport News, Virginia. On August 22, 1997 David met Debbie Sue Blackmon in Oklahoma City. David and Debbie fell deeply in love and in December of 1997, David who was still living in Newport News at the time, flew Debbie out to Virginia where he proposed at Virginia Beach, Virginia. They pledged their infinite love on December 12th, 1998 and made their home in Weatherford, OK. Their love for each other was so immense; you rarely saw one without the other. David transferred to Simplex in Oklahoma City in March of 1998 where he was currently employed as a Fire Tech and Alarm Programmer at the time of his sudden illness and untimely passing. Having been employed with the company for over 20 years, David was an extremely devoted employee who loved helping others and making everyone feel appreciated. His fellow co-workers were like extended family to him and he loved them very much. He was always available to teach them what he knew and to offer support and advice. No matter how many times his phone would ring, he always remained patient and kind. David was a man of faith who loved his Lord, his wife and his kids. He was father to Michael, Maddie, Shaun, Abby and Davey. David had an amazing gift for singing and loved hamming it up singing karaoke on the weekends with his family, cooking delicious hot wings that could occasionally make you cry and hilariously impersonating scenes from his favorite movies (Blazing Saddles, Lampoon Vacation, Ernest, to name a few, because there were many). On any given Saturday during football season, he could be found sitting alongside his wife watching OU Sooners football. When he couldn't be in front of the TV, he would turn off his phone so that no one texted him the score until he had a chance to view the entire game on his DVR. His love of helping others and making everyone feel appreciated was proven by the many people that have spoken to the family about him. He was quick to listen and slow to speak and he believed laughter could cure anything with his amazing wit and timing. So many have mentioned how it was impossible to ever catch him without a smile on his face. David is survived by his loving wife, Debbie, 5 children and their spouses, Michael, Abby and Davey of Weatherford, Madison and Ronnie of Choctaw, and Shaun and Brett of Weatherford; his mother Joann Sprouse; 1 brother, Danny Sprouse of Marshall, North Carolina; 3 Nieces, Kayla Sprouse, Chayli and Emmy Blackmon; 6 nephews, Leslie Welch, Daniel Sprouse, Langston, Coleton and Brody Dowdy and Thomas Sprouse; 1 grand-child, Albie Stevens. He was preceded in death by his father, Randall Lewis Sprouse; father-in-law, J.C. Blackmon (who was like a father to him); a brother, Randy Sprouse; one nephew, Levi Welch. Memorial services will be held at Grace Assembly of God, Weatherford, OK on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 2:00 pm (10345 Oklahoma 54) with Pastor Wes Warren officiating. The family asks that everyone wear casual colorful clothing and that no one overdress or use the color black excessively. Anyone who would be so kind as to share their fond memories of David at the service would be helping to uplift the family. Flowers and plants are appreciated but the family asks that no gravesite flowers be sent . The family thanks everyone for their prayers, kind words and donations while David was in the hospital and during this hard time.
