David Martin Reed
February 1, 1949 – September 21, 2023
David Martin Reed, age 74, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on September 21, 2023. David was born in Pampa, TX on February 1, 1949 to Alma and Raymond Reed. He graduated from Putnam City High School in 1967 and was a lifelong resident of Oklahoma City. David married the love of his life, Linda, in 1969. They had three children, Lisa, Lance, and Lane.
David enjoyed being outside fishing, working in his vegetable garden, traveling, and loved watching the OU Sooners play football and softball. David treasured and always looked forward to hosting events and entertaining friends and family, including an annual PCHS ’66-67 classmate Christmas Open House in their home. He also enjoyed Tuesday morning men’s Bible Study.
David was self-employed for over 45 years, including a framing construction company and Blind Alley, a retail window treatment business, retiring in 2016.
David was a devoted and faithful husband, a dedicated and caring father, a fun and loving grandfather, and a generous and loyal friend to many. One thing David enjoyed very much was making his famous deviled eggs and barbeque beans at the request of his grandchildren.
David is preceded in death by his parents, sister Lynn, and brothers Jerry and Michael.
David’s life and legacy will continue to be honored and celebrated by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda; daughter, Lisa and husband Mike; son, Lance and wife Ricque; son, Lane and wife Kelly; and grandchildren, Kelsey, Jack, Emily, Conner, Kathryn, Julia, Karley and Drew. David is also survived by his brother Gil (Linda), sister-in-law Karen Arbogast, brother-in-law Lee Arbogast, sister-in-law Debbie Reed, nieces, nephews, cousins, along with many close friends and his beloved dog, Lucy.
