Debbie died tragically on Aug. 30, 2013 on her way home from work. She was born June 15, 1955, in Fort Worth, TX, the daughter of Roy R. and Belen A. (Garcia) Papajohn. She grew up in Fort Worth and began her career as a hairstylist and makeup artist while attending Northside High School. She came to Oklahoma City in 1976 where she continued her 40-year career as a master cosmetologist and makeup artist in various capacities encompassing theatre arts in both the lyric and civic theatre communities as well as owning her own shop. Debbie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCO, graduating in 2008 and subsequently taught theatre courses there. Debbie was passionate about life and work. She loved her family and friends and all animals, but most of all, she loved the Lord. She is survived by her husband, best friend and partner of 18 years, Jim Malone; five children, Melese Papajohn Hedrick (Greg Taylor), Melanie Berry (Don), Derek Jester, Madison Reed and Cutter Reed; her mother, Belen Papajohn of Fort Worth; two sisters, Patty Brown (John) and Becky Papajohn; two brothers, Roy Papajohn and George Papajohn; seven grandchildren, Chandler Hedrick, Grayson Hedrick, Kayelee Berry, Donnie Berry, Joseph Berry, Sarah Berry and Asher Boyd; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Steve. Visitation will be held Saturday from 12-7 with family present from 2-4. Funeral service will be Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Smith & Kernke Chapel. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Debra Papajohn Reed Scholarship Fund in care of UCO Foundation, 100 N. University Drive, Box 133, Edmond, OK 73034.
