If a man's worth is determined by the amount of love and respect that his family has for him, then Demetrio Ortega Morales is indeed among the chosen. Demetrio passed gently into the hands of the Almighty Father on June 8, 2015.
He was born in Sierra Blanca, Texas. He joined the Air Force after high school, and his lifelong adventure began when he met a beautiful young English girl in Manchester, England, and they began a journey of travel and adventure that lasted sixty five years.
Demetrio attended the University of Maryland and made sure his three children understood the value of education, culture, and following their dreams. He wanted his children to be exposed to the culture of whatever country they lived in. Castles, museums and ruins, and cultural pageantry were part of their family education.
Demetrio was a veteran, proudly serving in the USAF for twenty seven years and then continuing his dedication to his country by working for the FAA until retirement.
He was a devoted family man whose greatest joys revolved around his family. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Dorothy Kennedy Brophy Morales and his three children, Dee Morales, Beverly Smith and Timothy Morales, PhD and his wife Inna, and son-in-law Dr. Sam Musallam. Grandchildren include Sami, Morgan and Mallory Musallam; Damian Smith, his wife Kara and their children Carter, Jack and Peyton; Christian and Isabella Morales; and Dr. Marcus Smith, his wife Rebecca and their children Olivia, McKenzie and Parker.
Special thanks to the angels at Integris Hospice for their devoted and loving care.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11am on Wednesday, June 10th at St. Eugene Church in Oklahoma City, 2400 W. Hefner Road.
