Dick Roland Wegener, born on October 18, 1943, in Tyler, Texas, passed away on December 17, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 81.
Dick was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda B. Wegener; daughter Carly J. Wilson and her husband Tim M. Wilson; grandson Hayden M. Tribbey; daughter Leigh B. Wegener-Henderson and her husband Cash M. Henderson; grandson Ezekiel R. Wegener-Henderson; his brother Glen Bayless and family; sister-in-law Yvonne Hartmann and family; brother-in-law Peter Aguilar and family; and brother-in-law Larry Steven Aguilar. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelle Jane Bayless and Dick Wegener; his mother- and father-in-law, Harvey B. and Consuela B. Aguilar; and his siblings, Susan J. Wolf and Cindy Gallois.
Dick graduated from John Marshall High School; Dick went on to earn a degree in finance from the University of Oklahoma. Throughout his career, Dick worked in the banking, insurance, and oil & gas industries. He later became the proud owner and operator of Wegener Human Resource Group. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dick was an active and dedicated member of numerous civic organizations. A true pillar of his community, he was committed to service and leadership.
Dick was also an avid golfer, and in 2012, he proudly achieved a hole-in-one at Quail Creek Golf Course. A cherished and loyal member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church for 52 years, he found joy in singing in the church choir.
Above all, Dick was known for his love and devotion to his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather. He had a gift for making friends, never met a stranger, and was always ready with a hug. His legacy is one of kindness, faith, and selfless service to others. His smile, which could light up any room, will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 2717 West Hefner Road, Oklahoma City, OK, at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025. Dick will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church to benefit the Faith Partners Committee, which provides shelter and new beginnings for youth aging out of foster care through Pivot.
