Dolores Dean Rahill Homsey beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday October 27, 2017. She was born July 10, 1927 to George and Rumzy Rahill. She attended Hawthorne Elementary School, Classen High School and Oklahoma City University to study music. At the age of 21, her heart was stolen by her beloved Benny Homsey, and they celebrated 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2011. This dynamic couple was the life of the party and entertained at every function as Benny sang and Dolores played the piano. Together they raised three children and have nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, who lovingly call her Sittie Dolores. Dolores lived each moment with joy and grace as she cherished her loving family and dedicated herself to her church. She was a lifelong member of St. Elijah's Orthodox Christian Church and helped to promote the faith and serve the community. At St. Elijah, she was a faithful member of the Ladies Junior Guild and the Ladies Aid Organization and her greatest joy was singing in the church choir. Dolores was one of the original tireless organizers and workers of the St. Elijah Bake Sale and continued to support it to this day. She was a member of the Bonne Heure Club for over 60 years and served in every capacity. She made lifelong friendships with the grand ladies of this club, as they sought to raise money for philanthropic causes and to share in the fellowship of their loving relationships and their shared heritage. Dolores was member of the order of St. Ignatius, where she pledged a lifetime financial commitment of all the supported orthodox ministries.
Her quiet strength, vogue beauty and endless capacity for love of her family defined her. Dolores radiated beauty, elegance and style when she walked into a room. She was equally as kind and beautiful on the inside and her sweet smile will be forever etched in our hearts. She lived every single day of her life for her family and engaged her grandchildren with a zest for fun and happiness. She exemplified a complete lady and set examples of life to all who knew her. She was easy to admire and look up to.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, Nadine Barkett, Betty Jean Rahill, Geneva Stevens, Juanita Wehba and brother Floyd "Buddy" Rahill. She is survived by her three children, son, Gary Ben Homsey and wife Sue, daughter Margot Dean Bayouth and husband Jon, and daughter Leslie Dee Samara and husband Dr. Esber Scott. In addition, Dolores is survived by her grandchildren, Kristin Carson and husband Joe, Benjamin Homsey and wife Wren, Dr. Anna Homsey, Brittani Bayouth Johnson, Hayden Bayouth, Dr. Shea Samara and wife Alix, Rachel Bolen and husband Nelson, Elizabeth Haggard and husband Christopher and Juliana Simon and husband Spencer - all who dearly loved her and were thankful for her positive outlook on life. Dolores was also blessed to enjoy the births of her twelve great grandchildren, Claire and Scottie Samara, Kylee and Khloe Johnson, Vivien and Hollis Carson, George, Ralph and Donald Bolen, Mary and Hannah Haggard and Virginia Simon. She is also survived by her loving sisters-in-law Imogene Naifeh, Blanche David and Yevonne Homsey as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her family would like to give special thanks to Cora Cart, who has become family. She has endlessly loved, cared and devoted her life to Benny and Dolores over the past fifteen years. The family would also like to acknowledge the dedication and love she received from her healthcare givers Matilda Mier, Kim Perkinson, Teresa Guardado and Judy Jackson; and to Mona Gray from Good Shephard Hospice. Trisagion Service at 10:00am and funeral service at 10:30am, Monday, October 30, at St. Elijah's Orthodox Church, 15000 N. May Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73134. Those wishing to honor the memory of Dolores may do so by contributing to the Flowers That Do Not Wither Fund at St. Elijah.
