On November 28, 2009 we bid a temporary farewell to our husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Donald C. Manning. Don was born September 18, 1927 in Ponca City, OK and raised in Bartlesville, OK by parents, Charles and Pauline Manning. After graduating from College High in Bartlesville he attended and graduated from the University of Oklahoma obtaining a degree in Government/Political Science. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army. After an honorable discharge he joined the Army Reserves and rose to the Rank of Lt. Col. He met & married Margaret Phillips Manning on Valentines Day 1953. He later attended law school at OCU. Don worked for OGE for many years and then practiced law, worked for the Public Defenders Office, and was appointed a Special District Judge in OK County. After retiring from the OK Co. Court
System he served as a municipal judge for several years. "Judge" is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Margaret P. Manning; 2 daughters, Dawna Darland, Marta Manning Motley (William Barrett); 4 granddaughters, Heather Dawn, Deidra Nicole Wood, Cori Laine Wood & Madison Sawyer Motley; 2 great-grandchildren, Xavier Cole and Jaycee Day. While raising his family Judge taught youth Sunday School and later taught the adult, Neighbors Class, at First Christian Church for many, many years. Judge was well liked by everyone he met, and much loved by his adoring family.
