Donald Plugge

Donald Plugge, age 88, went to be with the Lord after heart and kidney failure on May 18th, 2023. His last days were spent at St. Anthony Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born in Hartman, Arkansas in 1935, to Frank W. Plugge and Fannie H. Plugge, Donald was one of three children. He was predeceased by both of his parents and his siblings: Frank Plugge and Aemilian Plugge. He was happily married to his wife, Loretta for over 60 years. Lorretta, also from Hartman, Arkansas, passed in 2020. He is survived by his four children (and their spouses) Michelle (James) Scarcelli, Celeste (Scott) Lee, Denise (Steve) Hart and Gregg (Suellen) Plugge; and his 8 grandchildren: Jonathan and Cameron Lee; Sarah and Garrett Plugge; Shane and Gabrielle Hart; and Isabella and Gianna Scarcelli. He is also survived by three of Loretta's nine siblings: Matthew, Cecil and Mary Ann Soerries. Donald was the owner of Plugge Custom Furniture for over 60 years in Oklahoma City. He started in the auto seat cover business and soon evolved into furniture upholstery. Don's passion and talent for designing beautiful and ergonomic furniture for residential and commercial projects made him a local leader in the custom market. He served the hospitality sector including restaurants, hotels, churches, and casinos for many years. Don enjoyed working with interior designers, business owners and retail clients. Donald's friends and family were the most important element of his life. His gift of storytelling and warm sense of humor will be greatly missed. In his twenties, Don served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was an active member of Knights of Columbus since he was 18 years old. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in June at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
