Donna Marie Kanaly of Oklahoma City passed away peacefully June 16, 2012. She was born in Venice, CA on Feb. 25, 1930, to the late George William and Marie Rosetta Blakesley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Everett Kanaly, Jr. and sister, Gwen Whitenack. Donna grew up on the family homestead in Mooreland, OK, and graduated from Mooreland High School where she became a talented basketball player. After graduating and leaving the farm she moved to OKC where she met and married the love of her life, Tom, on Nov. 28, 1953. They remained devoted for 57 years. As a young adult she considered a life of commitment to God as a Catholic Nun and began the candidacy process. Her family is grateful God changed her calling to wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; a service of love that she remained dedicated to in partnership with her husband. Her family was always at the heart of her life. Donna had style and grace that endeared her to many. She was a loyal friend and devout Catholic who enjoyed gardening, swimming, family gatherings and dancing. She has now joined her soul mate in heaven for their eternal dance together. Donna leaves behind her 2 daughters, Kassie Webster and husband Mike, Wilson, NC and Stacie Aschwege and husband Allen, Marietta, GA; 3 sons of OKC, Mike Kanaly and wife Pam; Tom Kanaly and wife Sherri; Pat Kanaly and wife Lise; and two brothers, Eugene of Kansas and William of Georgia. Also, 16 grandchildren, Kris, Tripp, Julie, Lindsey, Lauren, Sara, Shelby, Kylie, Sean, Nathan, Ryan, Dillon, Colton, Claire, Avery and Amelia and 4 great grandchildren, Khairee, Fiona, Kassidy and Olivia. Their lives are forever blessed by her love. Visitation will be from 10a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday at Smith and Kernke. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at St. Charles Borromeo Church 5024 N. Grove OKC. Memorial gifts may be made to Alzheimer's Research.
