Dora Grant was surrounded by family as she left to walk with her Lord on January 2, 2013 after suffering complications following a series of strokes. Dora was born August 11, 1927 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma; the second youngest child of John Russell Higgins and Henrietta Wood Higgins. Dora's life was blessed by her twin sister, Nora Wilcox. They were raised on the family farm in Wynnewood until 1943 when they moved to Oklahoma City. Following high school graduation in 1944, Dora was employed at First National Bank in Oklahoma City where she met Carl Grant. Dora and Carl spent 37 devoted years together and were the proud parents of two children. They enjoyed traveling with their friends, attending sporting events and staying actively involved in their church. Through much of her life Dora was an active member of PEO and the Lyric Guild. She also enjoyed volunteering with Mobile Meals and cheering for her Dallas Mavericks. Dora's family was her pride and joy and she will be incredibly missed. Dora is preceded in death by her husband Carl Grant. She is survived by her sister Nora Wilcox, her daughter Laura O'Neil and husband Richard, her son Keith Grant and wife Nancy, and her five grandchildren: Katie and Matthew O'Neil, and Jennifer, Melissa, and Brian Grant, as well as many other family and friends. All are invited to attend funeral services at 2PM Saturday, January 5th, at Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial Donations may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
