Doris was born in Huntsville, Texas on March 24, 1927, the daughter of Thomas Byrd and Nora (Osburn)
McGraw and passed away at her residence in Oklahoma City on January 24, 2015. Doris was the next to youngest of eleven children, all of whom have predeceased her. She completed her secondary education in Huntsville before obtaining her Associates Degree in accounting. Doris moved to Houston, Texas to work for Humble Oil Company (today Exxon Mobil), where she worked in the payroll department for over 10 years. While in Houston. Doris met and married William C. Talbert, Jr. in May 1957. Through William's work, Doris traveled the world, including two years living in London. In 1959, Doris and William returned to Houston to raise their daughter, Beverly. No mother had greater pride in or devotion to her child than Doris did for Beverly. Although Doris again returned to work after Beverly attained a degree of independence, her greatest talent for nurturing children once again dominated when her grandchildren, Victor and Stephanie, entered her life. She was a hands-on grandmother who was happiest on the floor playing board games or scootering around the neighborhood with her grand children. Doris made an enormous contribution to the motivated and compassionate adults her grandchildren have become. Once William passed in 2002, Doris moved to Oklahoma City and became an active member of Nichols Hills United Methodist Church. When not occupied by her grandchildren or volunteering at church, Doris enjoyed gardening, reading and sewing. Doris is survived by her daughter, Beverly Talbert and her husband, Victor Trautmann; two grandchildren, Victor & Stephanie Trautmann; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 3 pm to 6 pm on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Bath Cemetery in Huntsville, Texas.
