Doris Westfahl Dean

Doris Westfahl Dean, 95, of Oklahoma City, passed peacefully on Friday, May 3, 2019, with her immediate family around her. Despite a prolonged illness, she lived a long life. We are grateful for knowing she is in a better place, whole again, and suffering no more. She was born in Okeene, Oklahoma, on March 16, 1924. She was the daughter of William Paul Westfahl and Margaret Ann Mildfelt Westfahl. She graduated from Okeene High School and St. Anthony's nursing school becoming a Registered Nurse. In 1950, she married Joseph Dean. Together they traveled, played golf, snow skied, and enjoyed playing bridge with friends. In addition to being a nurse, Doris was a competitive basketball player in high school. She was naturally gifted with the ability to play the piano by ear. She was a talented seamstress making and designing many of her clothes. In 1978, she went back to school taking art classes and became a talented artist who enjoyed painting with oil and drawing with pencil broadside. Doris is survived by her two daughters, Kellie (David) Halbert of Houston, and Lori Dean of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by her two grandsons, Chad Waters, and Josh Waters, both of Oklahoma City; and her sister Billie Marcoux, of Enid, OK. She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Dean; parents Mr. & Mrs. William Paul Westfahl; three sisters, Norene Moore, Mary Ellen Turner, and Frances Betty Bowman; and two brothers Clarence Westfahl and Kenneth Westfahl. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Resurrection Cemetery Chapel. The family would like to express special thanks to Doris' caregivers throughout the years for their love, care, and support.
