Douglas Ray Parmley, 82, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on February 27, 2021. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on November 27, 1938, the eldest of 3 children, to the late Ray and Jimmie Jordan Parmley. The family moved to Tyler, Texas in 1948, where he started school and eventually moved to Van, Texas, where Douglas graduated in 1956 from Van High School.Douglas spent his entire career dedicated to the oil and gas industry, which he dearly loved and was fully devoted. For many years, he worked for Otis Engineering in both Louisiana and in Lago, Nigeria. The last 17 years, he was employed in sales by Great Plains Gas Compression Company in Hugoton, Kansas, which he highly respected. He served his customers with endless enthusiasm and dedication and truly enjoyed them, especially his time having lunch and visiting with them. He always had a positive attitude and liked to laugh. Doug served as a mentor to many in the oil and gas industry. In addition, he served as head of the Home Owners Association where he lived and was referred to as "Anchor." More than anything, he loved his wife Glinda more than she will ever know. He was a "People Person" and Master Salesman. He loved to travel, especially taking cruises with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Glinda Parmley; step-daughter, Audra Eccles and husband John; grandsons, Jayden and Chase all of Oklahoma City; one brother, Charles Parmley and wife Carrie Jo of Tyler, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald J. Parmley.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday July 10th, 2021 at Christ the King Catholic Church.Memorial donations may be made to St. Lawrence Ministry through Christ the King Catholic Church in Oklahoma City, where Douglas was an active member.
