Douglas Scott Hinson passed away suddenly on Sept. 7, 2019. He was born March 8, 1958, in Carroll, IA, the son of Rex W. and Janice I. Hinson. He grew up in Iowa, graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1976 then attended Iowa State University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Transportation Logistics. Douglas married Lisa A. Chopski in 1983. Following college graduation, he began a lifelong career with Ryder Systems, Inc. which took him and his family to Oklahoma City in 1992. He was currently serving as Senior Account Manager. He has been a parishioner at St. Eugene Catholic Church since moving to Oklahoma City. He served on numerous Church committees, served as Eucharistic Minister, usher, and along with Lisa sponsored young engaged couples prior to marriage. He was also actively involved with the Knights of Columbus. Some of his favorite activities included working in the yard, cooking and grilling for family and friends, and playing golf with his many friends. His most treasured pastime was his family. He rarely missed an opportunity to attend family events, including sports, school activities, and family gatherings. He is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Lisa, sons Gregory (Madison Hinson) and Bradley, two beloved grandchildren, Brecken and Magnolia, sisters Nanci Anderson (Stephen Anderson) and Kathy Hinson (Don Mason), mother-in-law Shirley Hauptman, sisters-in-law Judy Behm (Rod Behm), Teddi Roy ( Lawrence Roy), Brenda Burditt, brother-in-law Robert Burditt, and his 18 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. An evening prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday September 12th, Smith & Kernke Funeral Home, N. May, Oklahoma City, followed by a time of visitation with the family at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2019, at St. Eugene Catholic Church with burial to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
