Howard Jayne, M.D., died on May 2, 2018, after leading a long and fulfilling life.
Born September 3, 1929, in a private home at 401 E. 5th., Edmond, OK, he is survived by the love of his life for 65 years, wife Phyllis Jayne, and four children and seven grandchildren: Karen Jayne of Oklahoma City; David, wife Ann, sons Ian and Justin Jayne of Edmond, OK; Gary, wife Ann, sons Conrad and Wyatt Jayne of Tracy, CA; and Russell, wife Cheryl, children Andrew, Nicole and Timothy Jayne of Las Vegas, NV.
Dr. Jayne graduated from Edmond High School in 1947, Central State Teachers College in 1952 and the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in 1957. Following an internship at Wesley Hospital from 1957-58 and a Fellowship in Radiology at the Cleveland Clinic from 1958-61, he joined the staff at Los Angeles County General Hospital, where he was later appointed as the first head of the new Outpatient Department. He coauthored the book Urologic Roentgenology, published by Williams and Wilkins in 1965. Dr. Jayne also taught in the University of Southern California School of Medicine as an Assistant Clinical Professor.
Dr. Jayne had a private practice in Corona, CA, from 1965 to 1994, when he
returned with Phyllis to Edmond. He then worked locum tenens in several states, as well as at the Oklahoma City Clinic and Presbyterian Hospital.
Services will be held Smith & Kernke N. May Chapel, on Sunday, May 6th at 2pm followed by burial. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or ARLO (Animal Rescue League of Okemah), P.O. Box 214, Okemah, OK 74859.
