Dr. Ernest "Ernie" Koerner of Edmond, OK passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on April 4, 2019 after a brief illness. Ernie was born on March 17, 1931 in Cleveland, OH to Molly McGovern Koerner and Ernest Lee Koerner, Sr. Ernie graduated with a chemical engineering degree from the University of Dayton and married his classmate Barbara Jean Payne. They moved to Ames, Iowa where he earned his masters degree and Ph.D. from Iowa State University. Ernie worked at Monsanto in St. Louis and Kerr-McGee which brought the family to OKC in 1966. In 1970, he founded an analytical lab, TECHRAD, a part of The Benham Group. After selling the business and retiring, Ernie worked as a consultant for the State Chamber of Commerce. Ernie spent many years as an active member of Christ the King parish and later in life as an active member of St. Eugene's parish. He loved spending time at the lake house with family, playing golf and gardening. Ernie is survived by his loving wife Barbara of sixty five years; six children, Sue Smith, Laguna Vista, TX, Pat Koerner, Glenwood Springs, CO, Karen (Tom) Nolen, Norman, Sally (Mike) Jones, OKC, Joan Koerner (Stephen Foster), Norman, Mary Beth (Dan) Pasque, Tulsa; nine grandchildren, Kelli Hardwick (Jesus Quintero), Colby (Stefanie) Koerner, Gemma (Daniel) Jekel, Erin Lazzara, Lauren (Hans) Kobor, Jack Hardwick, Adam Pasque, Melanie Pasque, Shelby Pasque; six great grandchildren, Hayden Lazzara, Dillon Jekel, Richie Kobor, Elizabeth Kobor, Gael Quintero, Sofie Koerner. He is survived by his sister Margaret (Peggy) Fishleigh, FL, Mary Gail Koerner, CA, and many nieces and nephews from across the country. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Harold Koerner, CA.
