It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Allen Sartin, MD, on October 12, 2024. "Mike," "Mikey," "M.A.," "Dad" and "Doc," as he was affectionately known by loved ones, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his beloved family.
Mike was born December 11, 1943, to Jack and Virginia Sartin in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Upon graduation from Northeast High School in 1962, he attended the University of Oklahoma, where he was a proud member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. There, he formed lifelong friendships and developed a deep love for the Sooners. He carried the crimson and cream spirit with him throughout his life.
Following undergrad, Mike attended the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, and it was during this time that he met and married the love of his life, Linda Kaye Taylor, in 1968. Their 56 beautiful years together were filled with love, laughter, and countless memories, and their unwavering partnership was a true testament to devotion and a source of inspiration for all who knew them.
In 1970, Mike graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine to ultimately become a highly respected Radiation Oncologist in Oklahoma City. His commitment to his patients and the medical field was unwavering, and he made a lasting impact on the lives of those he treated.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Mike's love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life. His warmth, kindness, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him. He had a quiet strength, always offering support and guidance to those around him. His wisdom, humor and gentle nature will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Aside from work and family, Mike was a man of many talents and passions. He enjoyed world travel, golf, playing the piano and ukulele, and he was an avid reader and cinephile. But his favorite thing of all was spending time with his family and friends.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Linda, their children Matthew Sartin and Taylor & Josh Brazeal and his six grandchildren: Garren, Liddie, Colby, Millie, Carson and Sam. He was preceded in death by his son, Colby, and parents, Jack and Virginia Sartin. Mike's legacy of love, compassion, and generosity will live on through them and all who carry his memory in their hearts.
We invite family and friends to join us for a small ceremony to honor and celebrate the life of Mike. The gathering will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery on October 18, 2024, at 11 am.
Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the many years of love and joy that Mike brought to our lives. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain with us.
