Sam Badeen, D.D.S., of Oklahoma City passed away on February 20, 2010, his 88th birthday. He was born in McAlester, OK to John and Farida Badeen. Dr. Badeen entered OU at the age of 16 where he received his Masters degree in Microbiology. He enrolled in dental school in Kansas City, MO, where he attained his D.D.S. at the age of 24. In 1946, he served in the military in Allied-occupied Japan for 2 and one-half years in the Army's Dental Corp, reaching the rank of Captain. Dr. Badeen then moved to Sapulpa, OK where he practiced dentistry for 37 years. He was a 50-year member of the Oklahoma and American Dental Associations. He married Lillian Samara in 1953. They were married 56 years. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Sugarland, TX. He relocated to Oklahoma City in 2008. Sam was a member of Kiwanis Club as well as his church's Order of St. Ignatius. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Rhonda Badeen Lunn, M.D. and his three grandchildren, Kathryn, Michael, and Adrienne. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Badeen, his son, Rodney Badeen, OKC, sister Jenny Farah of Sugarland, TX, brothers Dr. Louis Badeen of Kansas City and Fr. John Badeen of Beaumont, TX. He is also survived by his mother-in law, Adeeba Samara, OKC, as well as his brothers-and sisters-in-law, Sam & Nadia Shadid, William & Dianna Kakish, Dr. Scott & Leslie Samara, Dr. Johnny & Andrea Jones, all of OKC, Carolyn Hamra, Little Rock, AR, and numerous nieces and nephews.
