Edie McLeod Carver embarked on a new adventure on Friday, August 21, 2015. She was born in Munich, Germany, on Christmas Day 1947 to Rolf and Christiane Bielefeld. She later became big sister to Karin and Beverly. The family moved from Germany when she was a young girl, settling in Saint Joseph, Michigan, where Edie graduated high school in 1965. She received her Associates Degree in Computer Science from Purdue University and began a career as a programmer at a time when very few women were in the industry. She moved to Boston where she worked for Raytheon. While there, she met and later married John McLeod of Bad Axe, Michigan, in 1969. They had two children, Christin and Brent.
Edie and John moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in the early 70's, where Edie blazed a trail in politics. Within two years of moving to the area, she was elected as the first female Democratic County Chair for Oklahoma County. She made a bid for a state senate seat in 1980, narrowly losing the election to her Republican counterpart. She retired from politics to focus her efforts on fund raising for local non-profit organizations.
Edie was an active participant in the recovery community from 1983 through the remainder of her life, an accomplishment she was very proud of. She met her surviving husband, James W. Carver, through the recovery community and they were married in 1992. The couple spent many years traveling the country in their jobs as fiber optic inspectors. They enjoyed sharing their experience, strength, and hope in recovery communities all over the country. Edie was the CEO of InformationPages.com, a role which suited her personality well. She retired in 2010 to pursue a career as a Life Coach, becoming one of the first Master FasterEFT practitioners in the world.
Throughout her life, Edie's true passion was helping people step into their power and life purpose, and she was especially passionate about taking this to the community of women in recovery. Wherever she lived, Edie brought her unique brand of love, compassion, and caring with her. She made a profound impact on the lives of countless people throughout the country in her work, leaving an indelible mark on the world.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rolf and Christiane Bielefeld (Renker) and sister, Beverly Hahn. She is survived by her husband, James W. Carver; daughter, Christin McGovern McLeod; son, Brent Travis McLeod; daughter-in-law, Tammy McLeod; granddaughter, Audrey McLeod; sister, Karin Bielefeld; brother-in-law, James Hahn; and niece, Kelsey Hahn.
