Edmund James "Ed" Darling

Edmund James Darling (91) born August 17, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York to John and Lucy Darling. Ed passed away May 16, 2022 at his home in Edmond, Oklahoma. Ed was the youngest of 4.Ed left Brooklyn for Kansas City at the age of 19 where he met and married Jean Watson. From this union came his only child, Jim. While in Kansas City he worked for the National Screen Service which handled advertising for movie theaters. He then moved to Warner Brothers and worked as a shipper, shipping film to the theaters. His next position was with Theater Enterprise as a booker with three theater circuits; Dallas, Kansas City and Oklahoma City. In 1950 he moved to Dallas to work for Frontier Theaters becoming an Independent Theater owner. He retired from the Motion Picture Theater business in 1992.After retirement he moved to Cedar Creek, Texas and soon had numerous golfing buddies. He also had the good fortune to meet Jo Johnson during Jo's nephew, Lance Herell's wedding. They were married six months after meeting and spent fifteen wonderful years together. As Ed frequently said, "I was very fortunate to have two wonderful lives."Ed is survived by daughter in law, Jan Stovall, granddaughter Jamie Moore (Michael). Stepchildren, David Johnson and Kelly Gish (Casey). Stepdaughter in law, Janet Johnson. Eight step-grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.He was predeceased by his three siblings, Lucille, Dorothy and Jack. First wife, Jean Watson, son Jim and granddaughter Crystal Darling. Second wife, Jo Johnson Darling and stepson, Keith D. Johnson.Ed will be greatly missed by his family and the numerous friends he has met along the way.
