Edwin G. Baird

Edwin G. Baird, Sr. (Ed) went to be with his heavenly father on April 3, 2015. He was born February 24, 1934 in Cordell, OK to Campbell and Marie Baird. He graduated from Dill City High School in 1952 and worked as a bookkeeper until entering the US Army in 1957. Over the years, he utilized his innovative and entrepreneurial skills to start up new businesses in Oklahoma and Kansas including a gas station, convenience store, restaurant, heat and air company, jewelry store, and real estate investments. He became a Mason in 1965 and was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Scottish Rite in Guthrie and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cordell. Ed loved animals and aviation. He enjoyed bird watching and always made sure to feed God's creatures that visited his home. He became a pilot in 2006 and enjoyed flying his Cherokee 180. Ed moved to Edmond 6 years ago and became a member of the Edmond Senior Center where he enjoyed fellowship and played pool 5 days a week. During his membership at the Center, he served on the board and was crowned the champion pool player in 2012. Many of his friends will remember his "Ed-isms." When playing pool, he would put your pool ball "on the south rail" which meant he was not going to leave a good shot for the next player. His wit, wisdom and friendship will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances; and a grandson, Eddie J. Baird. He is survived by children, Edwin G. Baird, Jr. and wife Tammy, Laurie Barbour and husband Wayne; brother, J.C. Baird and wife Judy; grandchildren Christie Bingenheimer and husband Steve, Brandy Semore-Goodwin and husband Dylan, Jennifer Baird, Chase Lentz, and Trinity and Kevin Baird; great-grandchildren, Alex and Miles Goodwin; niece, Andrea Gossmeyer and nephew, Jason Baird.
