Eilene Dorcile Cheney, 92, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2014 in Oklahoma City. She was born on September 8, 1921 in Randolph, Kansas to George and Elin Rickson. She graduated from Randolph High School and stayed in her home town near Manhattan, Kansas and that is where she met the love of her life, John L. Cheney. After a brief courtship she married John on October 31, 1942. After the war she and John moved to Kansas City, Mo where John took a job with Wilson Foods. Eilene worked for Goldblatt's department store as a bookkeeper in Chicago, IL following John's transfer with Wilson Foods. After Wilson Foods relocated them to Oklahoma City, Eilene worked for Montgomery Ward's and retired from there shortly before they closed. Eilene was a good mother to her children and a faithful wife to her husband. She was preceded in death by her son Roger Cheney. Eilene is survived by her loving husband John; daughters Janice Sherman and Angela Burris; Granddaughters Tammy Price and Rebecca Cheney; grandsons Brian and Michael Sherman, and Derek Cheney; and step grandchildren Brent and Heather. Visitation will be Saturday August 2, 2014 at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home 14624 N. May Ave OKC, OK 73134 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a funeral service starting promptly at 11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home.
