Elaine Murphy Daniel went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, May 6th, 2016. She was born on February 26, 1922 in an apartment in Oklahoma City at 10th and Classen. Her parents were Wike and Beulah Murphy. At six years of age, she and her family moved to Euclid Street in Northeast Oklahoma City where, on her own, she got up every Sunday morning, put on her best dress and, by herself, walked about half a block to Kelham Baptist Church where she began her life long relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. She attended Central High School where she met John Byron Daniel who became her faithful husband until his crossover in February of 2004. They married during World War II and their first son, Bobby was born in January, 1945. Elaine later gave birth to a second son, David in 1948 and a daughter, Sheri in 1950. Elaine is survived by her three children, five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. She and Byron spent their last days together traveling, doing missionary work in Hungary and other Eastern Block countries after the fall of the iron curtain. Until her 90's, Mom's day consisted of rising before dawn, getting on the treadmill at the Cove Gym and walking 3 miles in 40 minutes. As she approached 90 she often said she was slipping because it was taking her the better part of an hour to cover the same three miles. Another hour in the gym followed her daily walk and then she started her day. When her body began to fail, she moved into the skilled nursing facility at Spanish Cove in Yukon where she had the privilege of leading a caregiver to the Lord. She said "I was a little rusty, it had been a long time, but I got it done!" a final testimony to her devotion as a Servant of the Most High. No doubt there is a celebration in Heaven as she has returned home to her Lord, Heavenly Father, with her family there to greet her arrival. Rumor has it, besides Jesus and Mom's Heavenly Father, Byron has made arrangements for Peter, Paul and a few of the other big twelve along with some guys from the Old Testament to be at the reception. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 - 8 p.m. at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home on N. May. Come celebrate her life and crossing over.
