Eleanor Pearson

Eleanor Pearson, 3/4/1935-4/2/2016, devoted wife of James Pearson and loving mother of Mike and Bob Pearson, made her transition to be with the love of her life Jim on Saturday, April 2nd after an illness complicated by Alzheimer's. She is survived by her sister Joan Thomas, two sons, two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. As a child, Eleanor moved to Oklahoma City in the 1940's from Illinois with her parents Les and Mae Austin some years after her biological mother passed away. She attended and graduated from Classen High School in 1953. She then attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a sister in the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. It was at a sorority party where she met Jim Pearson, a young man from Stillwater who was a Beta Theta Pi brother at Oklahoma State University. They were married in 1955, but she would have to wait for her husband, a lieutenant in the U.S. Army, to return from Korea before they could start their new life together. Eleanor and Jim adopted two sons in 1962 and 1964, respectively, and raised them in a comfortable home in NW Oklahoma City built by her father Les. Her husband Jim was a credit manager for McKesson. He passed away in 2014. In addition to being a homemaker, when her boys were older Eleanor enjoyed going back to work for Bogart Oil as a member of the administrative staff. Eleanor was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother who lived for us. She will be missed. A memorial service will be held at Smith and Kernke funeral home on Saturday, May 7th at 11:00am.
