Eleanore June Zajac

Eleanore June (Giantonio) Zajac, 94, of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away peacefully from this life on July 2, 2024, at Town Village Retirement Community. She was born in Medford, MA on July 8, 1929, to Albert Giantonio and Mildred Gately Giantonio. 

Eleanore was a devoted mother and grandmother, who found the most pleasure watching her grandchildren grow. We will miss her dearly, but we are comforted by the fact that someday we will all be together again, forever. 

Eleanore worked as the switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell for several years in Kansas City, Missouri and ended her career as the switchboard operator at OCU. She enjoyed watching sports, playing cards, and putting on a show for anyone who would listen. Her Bostonian accent and sense of humor was one of a kind, there wasn’t a person she encountered that didn’t leave laughing.

Eleanore leaves to cherish her memory: 3 children, Georgianne Cregg, Ed Zajac (Barb), Tim Zajac. She also leaves her seven grandchildren; Jesseca, Lauren, Ashton, Colton, Mackenzie, Jordan, and Mark; her four great grandchildren, Rilyn, Gigi, Elin, and Ivy. She also leaves her only nephew, Stephen Parsons and niece, Anita Parsons Williams. She was preceded in death by her son, Gerard Anthony; her parents; her sister, Mildred Parsons and brother-in-law, Paul Parsons, son-in-law John Cregg, and niece Paula Parsons Arroyo.

The family wishes to thank the dedicated and compassionate staff of Town Village Retirement Community for providing multiple friendships and exceptional care while she lived there for the past 6 years.

Visitation and viewing will be from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home, 14624 North May Avenue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.
