Elizabeth Anne 'Betty' Beagle

Elizabeth Anne 'Betty' was born in the front bedroom of the small house that her grandfather built in rural Pennsylvania, to parents, Guy and Amy. Her big sister, Lois and big brother, Malcolm waited up in the loft area with great anticipation. And so began the long, beautifully written life of our Mom. As a high school senior, Betty spotted a good looking blonde boy playing baseball and asked friends for an introduction. Always being a good judge of character, Mom and Dad were married on June 23, 1943 and enjoyed 46 years of adventure and fun together. Certainly one of the big adventures was packing up the pink Desoto with the three kids, Nevin, Doug and Nancy and heading out to the Wild West (otherwise known at the time as Oklahoma). Now, Mom did not know how to drive when she moved west and quickly realized that would be the next hurdle to conquer. The Beagle family thrived in their new home, thanks primarily to Dad's hard work and Mom's determination to model the 'golden rule' to her children and to those with whom she had contact. Thanks, Mom, we were paying attention. Mom has joined Dad, her parents, her brother and sister and countless relatives and dear friends from the Tower Sunday School class at St. Luke's United Methodist Church (where the family has been active members since 1956). Many relatives remain across the country who Mom loved dearly. No matter the person, Mom always had a charming story to tell about them and cherished each and everyone. Nevin, wife Wilma and their sons, Jeffrey and Shawn, wife Jennifer and children Harper and Mason; Doug, wife Jo and their daughter Jean Elizabeth; and Nancy, husband, Les and their daughters, Jennie Kleese, husband Ed, their daughter Abigail Elizabeth and soon-to-be-born son Sam; and Sarah Elizabeth Pugh, husband Adam and soon-to-be-born little one, each one of us have been touched by you Mom, your love and example will be with us and we surely thank God for your blessing in our lives. The family would like to express a special thank you to Tina Anifowose for caring for Mom and loving her like we do. In lieu of flowers the family would like to suggest donations be made to the St. Luke's United Methodist Church Children's Department. "All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to mv angel Mother." ~ Abraham Lincoln
