We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear mother Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Land, 83, of Oklahoma City, who passed away on December 25, 2023. Betty was born January 4th, 1940 in Oklahoma City. She attended Bishop John Carroll Cathedral School and Catholic High School, graduating in 1958. Betty and John T Land were wed on December 27, 1963, and built a life and family together.
Betty was known for being a wonderful hostess, excellent cook, and unafraid to speak her mind. Be it holidays, special occasions, or just because, her door was open to anyone who wanted to join in the fun. She was always ready to chat, even if it was in the middle of taking photos. She loved garage sales, decorating, crafting of all sorts, fabulous outfits, and most of all, her family. She was also blessed with her lifelong friends, the Yayas, who have always been there for each other.
Perhaps her proudest moments were not as Betty, but as Momma and Gran. Betty took great pride in taking care of others. The greatest joy in her life was raising her children and grandchildren. She was blessed with three children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.
At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by those who loved her dearly, her children and grandchildren. Betty is preceded in death by her husband John T Land, her mother Ruth Tunison, and her father Lenoard Tunison. She is survived by her daughters Catherine Kaserman (son-in-law Mark Kaserman), Susan Kidwell (son-in-law Jeff Kidwell), son John T. Land Jr., sister Nancy Gormley, grandchildren Sadie Harp, (Andrew Harp), Jacob Kaserman, Joshua Kaserman, Samuel Kaserman, Madeline Romano, (Tony Romano), Gracie Aguirre, (Hunter Aguirre), Emma Kidwell, great-grandchildren Ferris Harp and Una Harp and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank her Yayas, Linda Bradley, Shirley Miller, Margaret Shaw, and many other friends that visited and cared for her these last several years, as well as the caring staff at Ignite Skilled Nursing Center and Villagio Assisted Living Center. She was a wonderful Momma, Gran, and friend to all she met and will be greatly missed.
In honor of Betty, we invite you to celebrate her life with a Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond Oklahoma on Friday, December 29th at 10:00 AM.
