Ellen, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin and friend left this life Sunday, February 24, 2013 peacefully in her sleep. She was born in 1920 to Frances Evelyn Adams and Edwin Scott, M.D. in Toledo, OH. After high school in Toledo, she studied voice and piano at Oberlin College Conservatory of Music before transferring to Toledo University. There she received a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and became a Medical Technician. While at TU, she enjoyed archery and equestrian studes. She met her husband, Neil B. Kimerer, M.D. while attending TU. They were married on May 22, 1943. She spent the next 60 years supporting his chosen career and raising a family. She served in many organizations. She was President of the Rotary Ann/Andy from 1968-1969 that was associated with the Rotary Club, 29, President of the Medical Alliance in 1971 and the Deaconess Hospital Volunteer organization from 1976-2006 where she worked more than 9,000 hours, serving as President in 1986. Her children were supported as well through her leadership in the PTA, Band and Orchestra Parents group, Cub Scouts and Camp Fire. She loved her family, children, animals and roses. Ellen is preceded in death by her husband, Neil; infant son, Jon Douglas; her parents; brother, Alfred (AG) Scott; sister, Pearl Martin; her husband's parents, Ruby and William Kimerer; and her husband's brother, Perry Kimerer. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Coatney of Edmond; son, Neil and wife Joan of PA; son, Brian and wife Lauren of MA; daughter, Sandra of OKC; 2 nieces; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many cousins and friends. The family would like to express their gratitude to all the caregivers at Bellevue Nursing Home and INTEGRIS Oklahoma County Hospice who very tenderly helped her through the final passage of this life. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, February 28. 2013 at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2013, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 5401 N. Brookline, OKC, OK 73112. There will be a reception at the church following the service before interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
