The daughter of Hardy and Naomi White, Elsie was born in Troup, TX on August 16, 1914 and died on January 18, 2011 following a long and fulfilling life. Elsie was the oldest of five children and grew up in East Texas. At some point after graduating from high school while she was in her early twenties, Elsie moved to Tulsa to attend business school. She met Delbert Brackett on a blind date and married him on September 6, 1941. During World War II Delbert was stationed at Randolph field, and Elsie followed him to San Antonio. She worked as a secretary, and after the war they moved back to Tulsa. Elsie and Delbert were anxious to start a family and had two children, Jim and Betsy. In 1961 the family moved to Bartlesville for Delbert to develop his homebuilding business. Elsie was the epitome of a wife and mother in the 1950's and 60's. She devoted herself to her family, expressing her love by providing excellent care and support to her husband and children. Elsie kept the books for her husband's business, perfected her cooking and baking skills, took pride in her garden and enjoyed her involvement in the League of Women Voters. In 1973 the family returned to Tulsa. Elsie earned her real estate license and was proud to work for her son at his real estate company, Showcase Realtors, in Tulsa. Elsie's greatest role was that of grandmother, and she was completely devoted to her two grandsons, Bill and John. Grammy Elsie could not have been prouder of Bill and John as she watched them grow into fine young men. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James Arthur and Anne Brackett of Tulsa and their two sons, William Arthur and John Ward; her daughter and son-in-law, Susan Elizabeth Brackett, D.D.S., M.S. and Gregg Wadley of OKC, and her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Joyce White of Austin, TX.
