Emily Lee Harrington

Emily Lee Whittington Harrington, 90, passed peacefully Tuesday night, June 30. Even in her last days, Emily never complained about her health or circumstance. She was always "Just great!" Born to Eugene A. and Florence Culbertson Whittington, Emily spent her childhood on NW 18th Street in Oklahoma City. The Whittington family spent their summers at the family cottage in Chautauqua Park, Boulder, CO. She attended Wilson Elementary, Hockaday School in Dallas, Greenbrier College in West Virginia and Oklahoma City University. She especially enjoyed her drama classes. Emily married Rollin Barnes "Barney" Harrington, Jr. in her family home in 1948. They were married until his death in 2012. Emily loved her family and friends, her pets, and life! She and Barney raised four children. They traveled the world while making their home in Colorado. Emily loved to recite poems and tell stories of her wonderful family, friends, and charmed life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Dick and Gene Whittington, and her husband of 63 years. She is survived by Carolyn Harrington; Rollin B. Harrington III (Wanda); Eugene C. Harrington (Hazel); Janet H. Eskridge (Bob), eight grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family is very grateful for the loving care from the staffs at Touchmark at Coffee Creek, Valir Hospice and Grace Living Center and the ongoing support of First Presbyterian Church of Edmond. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 11-5pm; family will be present to greet friends from 3-5pm. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Monday, July 6 at St. Paul Episcopal Cathedral, NW 7th and Robinson, OKC. Emily will be laid to rest at Fort Logan, Denver, CO. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Deacons fund First Presbyterian Church of Edmond; MaxFund.org (Denver animal shelter); and St Paul's Cathedral.
