Emilyn Rala Killough passed away July 16, 2014, after a hard fought battle with cancer. She was born Aug. 30, 1962, in Daet, Camarines Norte, Philippines, the daughter of Pedro and Norma Macaro Rala. She earned a college degree in the Philippines and was employed with the Department of Agriculture for the Filipino government when she met Scott Killough in 1990. The couple married Feb. 1, 1992, in Silang, Cavite, Philippines. In the Philippines, she was very active with the church, especially the Handmaids of the Lord, and served as a volunteer with blind and deaf youth. Emilyn later earned a degree in Special Education and became a certified teacher in the Philippines. The family moved to the U.S. in May, 2007, and Emilyn worked as a substitute teacher in Deer Creek and Edmond before she began a career as a Special Education Teacher's Assistant with Edmond Public Schools. She worked with special needs children for several years at John Ross Elementary and then at Frontier Elementary until her health forced her to stop working in April. She was a member of St. Monica Parish where she taught Religious Education and was involved in Catholic Formation. She was also very active with F4, Filipino Friends for Filipinos, which supports social development programs in the Philippines, and with Couples for Christ. Emilyn enjoyed sewing, flower gardening and going to estate sales. She was passionate for the Word of God, her family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Leny Garcia and sister-in-law, Piper West. She is survived by her husband, Scott; two sons, Paul and Ryan Killough and daughter, Amoreena Killough all of Edmond; two brothers Danilo Rala (Tonette) and Ferdinand Rala (Carol) of Daet; three sisters, Nanette Totanes (Alex) and Rosemarie Rala both of Daet, and Joy Cabate (Ruel) of Japan; mother-in-law, Peggy (Bob); brother-in-law, Darin Killough; and many extended family here and in the Philippines. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Monica Catholic Church in Edmond.
