Enrique Arturo Calle, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Enrique went to his eternal home on May 9, 2011. Enrique was born in Lima, Peru on the 26th of April, 1953, to Peruvian Air Force General Arturo Calle and his wife Sonia. He was the oldest amongst his brother, Luis Felipe and sister Maria Cecilia Calle. Enrique had three sons; Christian, Erik, and Steven along with one daughter Nicole, all of whom he loved very much as well as his nephews. He is also survived through Monica, his beloved wife. Enrique was as dedicated to all his loved ones, his community, and country as he was to his profession, personally caring for each individual patient as if they were members of his family. Enrique was a humble, self sacrificing man who was always willing to help anyone, regardless of the situation and always willing to put others before himself. He had unique ways in finding humor in even the most problematic of circumstances, and was a person whose wisdom and judgment could always be trusted without question. He lived for the outdoors, and was a man who constantly pursued fun and adventure. He did this while traveling around the world, snowboarding in Colorado, wakeboarding, SCUBA diving or pursuing his passion for thoroughbreds. Enrique was a very thoughtful and generous individual. Enrique built a successful and prestigious medical career stretching from 1979 until 2011, working all over the country including New York City; Louisville, Kentucky; Buffalo, New York; Lima, Peru; Nassau, Bahamas; Orlando, Florida; and finally Enid and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dr. Calle was a diplomat of the American Board of Cardiovascular Diseases as well as a member of The Board of Interventional Cardiology. Along with his association with Integris Heart Hospital, he was a dedicated member of The American College of Cardiology. No matter where Enrique went, he touched the lives of all those with whom he came in contact with. Truthfully, not enough can be said about Enrique. He not only set an example for how the rest of us should live, but also followed those examples in every aspect of life until the day he moved to heaven. He lived by the principles of hard work, dedication, honesty, and integrity. He was honestly, an excellent man, father, husband, friend and physician who could always be counted on. His family and friends will miss him very much and we will always cherish him deeply in our hearts and in our thoughts. Enrique would want us, not to mourn him in his death, but to celebrate him in his eventful life. Enrique's legacy that will carry on is awarded to the fact that he loved people, was a fighter, an adventurer, and a healing physician. "One sees clearly only with the heart. What is essential is invisible to the eye." (The little Prince, Antoine de Saint Exupery) The family will greet visitors on Friday, May 13, 2011 from 5pm-9m at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Church of the Epiphany of the Lord; 7336 W Britton Rd, OKC. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The American Cancer Society.
