Ernie Felix Mcguire

Ernest "Ernie" Felix McGuire passed away in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday, November 19, 2016 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Ernie was born in Oklahoma City on February 2, 1936, to James "Harry" and Elizabeth "Betty' McGuire. He was raised in Oklahoma City while spending his summers in Hydro, Oklahoma on the family farm. Ernie graduated from Catholic High School (McGuinness) and while there he excelled in athletics. He was noted as scoring the first touchdown for Catholic High and for scoring more points in basketball at that time. He then went on to receive a bachelor's in business from the University of Oklahoma. After finishing school he moved to Ada, Oklahoma where he raised a family while building a career as a custom home builder. He moved to Arlington, Texas in the early '80s where he spent the remainder of his life. Ernie will be remembered for his love of life, exuberance for dance and being the life of the party. He enjoyed gardening, camping and sports and attending all of his children's many activities. Ernie is survived by his children, Michele Sutton, along with her husband, Chris, Susan McGuire, Dawn Jones and Corey McGuire; as well as grandchildren Amanda Centeno, Sarah Jones and Dax Jones; along with great-grandchildren, Collier and Lillie; his older brother, Jim McGuire of Pawhuska; Ernie's dearest friend, Mitzie Hall; and his extended family, Greg, Lisa, Brenda, Cindy, Cathy and numerous nieces, nephews and cherished friends. The family would like to extend their appreciation for the support and friendship of his lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Clara Ann Muglia, Sister Mary Mark McGuire and brother, Patrick McGuire.
