Evelyn Florence Toelle, age 86 passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Tulsa, OK. She was born to the late Jesse and Florence Kent in Sheldon, MO on April 5, 1929. Her husband, Charles, her younger brother Eugene and her younger sister Helen, preceded her in death. She is survived by her son Michael and his wife Tammy and her son David and his wife Kaylene. She is also survived by granddaughters Kayla Toelle, Courtney Aldridge and her husband Jeff and grandson David Jacob "DJ" Toelle.
Her father moved the family to Bolivar, MO to start a lumber business when Evelyn was a young child. Evelyn attended Bolivar schools where she played basketball and was a member of the band. Evelyn worked at the local drug store throughout high school. Upon her graduation in 1947, she moved to Oklahoma City, OK to start her career.
Upon graduation from Business College in Oklahoma City Evelyn worked at Oklahoma Natural Gas Company where she met her future husband, of 60 years, Charles and many lifelong friends. After marrying Charles in 1949 she worked at WKY radio/TV where she met many famous personalities. She then worked for the American Dairy Association where she worked with Miss Oklahoma Pageant winners. Evelyn later worked for Eli Lilly and Company Pharmaceuticals for 27 years and retired in 1993.
Family and friends were Evelyn's passion and delight. While raising a family, she was able to spend summers either traveling the United States or at the lake. She took on leadership roles in PTA, Band Parents and Boy Scouts. She was also a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Moms Organization in Stillwater, OK. Later in life, she was able to take many special trips with Charles all over the world.
Evelyn and Charles were both active members of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and involved with several ministries. She was an active member of The Oklahoma Federation of Republican Women and played in a bridge club with close friends for over 40 years. She was an avid sports fan and never missed a game – watching her boys' play growing up or a college/pro football or basketball game.
Evelyn truly loved and lived her life by example always putting faith and family first. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 10:00 am on Saturday, February 13, 2016 in Oklahoma City.
