F. LaVerne Poole, 89, of the Village, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, January 12th after a brief illness. LaVerne was born on March 10th 1921, in Emporia, Kansas to Fred Charles and Mary Desire Weirich. In 1939, LaVerne moved to Oklahoma City where she met and married Odis A. Poole in 1945. Odis died in 1964, and LaVerne raised their children with unparalleled love and devotion. The lessons of life and love she passed on to her family will be practiced and appreciated for years to come. LaVerne was an excellent dancer and approached that and all things in her life with passion, hard work, and love. She loved being with her large family and enjoyed many years of card clubs with dear friends. LaVerne was a cat lover and had many feline companions over the years. She was a proud resident of the Village for sixty one years and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church for that same period of time. LaVerne retired from the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in 1991, at the age of seventy. She was also preceded in death by her brother Fred "Whitey" Weirich. LaVerne is survived by her daughter Saundra and husband Harry Newhardt of Pocatello, Idaho, Mike and Gayle Poole of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, Ron and Linda Poole of Phoenix, Arizona, Don Poole, Tom and Cheryl Poole all of Oklahoma City, Pat and Deb Poole of Denver, Colorado. Fifteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren also survive her. Memorial contributions can be made to OMRF or the charity of your designation.
