A generation of the Bloomer family has come to a close. Fay B. Abernathy joined her parents and siblings in a heavenly reunion on June 29, 2010. Mattie Fay Bloomer, named for a maternal grandmother, was born to James Emmit and Emma Greene Bloomer on March 23, 1909, at Hood, Texas. She graduated from Marietta High School, in Love County in 1928, then attended business school in Ardmore. Fay married Mr. John L. Abernathy, Jr. on March 17, 1943. The couple lived in Lawton until the end of WWII, then purchased a home in Oklahoma City. Fay joined Crestwood Baptist Church in February 1947, and remained a member of that congregation until her death. Mrs. Abernathy was the bookkeeper for Oklahoma Theatre Supply Company from 1946 until her retirement in 1979. She was a long time member of the Ladies Music Club of OKC and the Crestwood Neighborhood Association. Fay was proud to be a life member of the Foundation of Motion Picture Pioneers. Fay Abernathy was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Ralph Bloomer, Ross Bloomer, Cy Bloomer, and Jack W. Bloomer, Elizabeth Hill, Mim Baxley, Dolly Dent, Billy Bob Latimer, and Emma Bloomer who died in infancy. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Mary Bloomer of Edmond. Our witty, spirited, much loved Aunt Fay will be missed by her host of nieces and nephews: Donald Bloomer, Chiquita Morton, Gary Bloomer, Gloria Stephens, Joy Farve, Nancy Newton, Gail Matthews, Deanna Stallings, Donna Latimer, Janet Pearson, Nancy Moore, Larry Bloomer, Carol Watts, and Christina Kiser.
