Fern Maria Hirner

Fern Maria Hirner entered into eternal life on Easter Sunday morning March 27, 2016 in Oklahoma City. She was born on March 24, 1916 in House Springs, MO to Emma Brouk and William Schulze. At the age of twelve Fern's Mother passed away and she took over the responsibilities of homemaker for her Father and two older brothers. Soon Fern was nicknamed "Mom Schulze" since she was often called into service by extended family members. Fern was a golfer, lifetime bowler and a 45 year member of the "Walkie-Talkies" women's walking group at Francis Park. She married the love of her life Paul I. Hirner in June 1941 and had two children Susan and Bill. They were married almost 75 years. Paul and Fern enjoyed life, spending time at their country place, traveling to Africa, Alaska and many other countries. They were long time members of St. Dominic Savio Parish and the VIP Club. It was from their example of love for one another and their great sense of humor that they will be greatly missed by family and friends. They spent their last six and a half years at St. Ann's Home in Oklahoma City. Paul predeceased Fern on January 6, 2016. Paul and Fern are survived by their daughter Susan (Robert) Dolan, and their children Colleen, Sean, Brian and Brennan; their son Bill (Betsy) Hirner, and their children Nicole, Cydney and Ross; Paul's sister Romana Cocoran; and 17 great-grandchildren.
