Florentino J. Mendez

Florentino " Tino" Mendez was born on August 26th, 1941 in Trinidad Cuba. He was proud of being an American, an Oklahoman, but perhaps more than anything he was proud of being a Louisiana State University Tiger!

Tino helped Oklahoma State University choose top candidates for different companies and inspired and insisted on more women becoming engineers and being hired. Tino proudly worked for Benham Architects and Engineers for 43 years. He helped create incredible jobs and made lifelong friends. 

Tino is preceded in death by his parents Florentino and Delia Mendez, and by his wife Sylvia of 61 years. Sylvia passed away 10 weeks ago and Tino was to be by her side as soon as he could. Tino is survived by his sister Maria Wallace, daughter Alexandra Kelley and husband Joe, daughter Tina Rogers and husband Phil Dodd, and granddaughters Emma Rogers and Francesca Kelley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday the 12th of December at St Francis of Assisi Church.
