Frances Veronica Wurzbach Deathe, 85, passed away on Thursday, February 25th, 2021. She was born on February 9th, 1936 to parents Milton Henry and Wilhelmina Lucille (Mosel) Wurzbach in San Antonio, TX. She graduated from Providence High School, San Antonio and attended Our Lady of the Lake University-San Antonio before leaving to marry and start a family. She later finished her bachelor's degree in Sociology at Central State University (University of Central Oklahoma) and then completed her Master's in Library Science at the University of Oklahoma. She had a passion for reading and learning. Almost any subject was of interest to her and she willingly shared her knowledge with others. Most of her work career was spent as the evening law librarian for the Oklahoma City University School of Law. She found great satisfaction assisting law students and professors navigate the library and find needed materials. She had a minor in English and used her talent for language, spelling and punctuation to help others. Her children and grandchildren especially enjoyed this skill. She was gifted with a sharp wit and if you could keep up with her you had the pleasure of a lively, engaging conversation. She believed all were created equal and should be allowed by society the opportunity to succeed and find happiness. Frances was always kind to others, but she had a special affinity for anyone unfairly judged just for being who they were. After retirement she spent several years tutoring children with special needs at a local elementary where her youngest daughter teaches. She had a love for all animals but a deep love for cats. She could sit and pet her cats for hours and they loved to snuggle in her lap. She is survived by her children: Harry Lee Deathe Jr. and wife Mary, Eileen Bullock and husband Jackson, Susan McGinley and husband John and Tracey Deathe; and also grandchildren: Meghan Heinikel and husband Jacob, Andrew (Drew) Deathe and wife Marie, Jessica Voegeli and husband Ryan, and Lauren McGinley and fiancé Cody as well as great-grandchildren: Carter and Madeleine Heinikel, Eli and Claire Deathe, and Olivia Voegeli. And finally, her cats: Mason, Shadow, Steve, Larry & Muffy. Services will be held at 11:00am Monday, March 15th, 2021 at Smith and Kernke N. May Chapel with livestreaming. In leu of flowers a donation may be made to The Bella Foundation, bellaspca.org or to the animal rescue of your choice. www.smithandkernke.com
