Frank Edwin Dennis

Frank Dennis was born in Oklahoma City on July 1, 1926, to E.V. (Vernon) and Leah Trosper Dennis. He passed away at his home on June 19, 2013. He attended Horace Mann, Harding and Classen Schools and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1949 and the O.U. Law School in 1951. He was a member of Sigma Chi social fraternity and Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity, and the Oklahoma County, Oklahoma State and American Bar Associations. After graduation he acted as an attorney for the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety before going into private practice. He was a partner in the DM&E Construction Company, which built houses in Denver, Colorado. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1962. Frank returned to Oklahoma to manage his family business, Sunny Lane Cemetery, which was developed by his grandfather, Frank Trosper, adjacent to the property he homesteaded in the Oklahoma Land Run. He was proud to have served on the National Cemetery Council. Frank was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Anne Garris Dennis, and his beloved daughter, Carol Dennis Slater. He is survived by his wife, Loreece Landers Dennis, his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Caroline Dennis and Richard and Gayle Dennis, his grandchildren, Jennifer and John Dell, Garris Dennis and Hannah Dennis, his great-grandchildren, Norah and Isen Dell, his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Pat Dennis, his daughter-in-law, Mary Susan Dennis, his son-in-law, Lee Slater, and many friends. Frank was a devoted member of St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral and served as Senior Warden for many years. He was well-known as a patron of the arts and helped to found the Contemporary Arts Foundation in the 1960s. He loved food and wine, and he and Loreece traveled extensively after his retirement, never missing a cathedral, museum or restaurant along the way. He was proud to have taken each of his grandchildren on their first trips to Europe. His wit and sense of humor will be missed by all.
