Franklin Charles Snyder of Oklahoma City passed away at the age of 92 on August 29, 2012. Frank was born to Frank Gordon and Edna J. Snyder on August 5, 1920 in Broadwater, Nebraska and graduated from Wiggle Creek High School in Lupe City, Nebraska. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1940 and went on to work as a machinist in Omaha, Nebraska and also in Berkeley, California. In 1942 he joined the Marines out of San Francisco and saw duty in the South Pacific and the Philippines. He was honorably discharged with decorations in 1945. He then obtained his Master's Degree as an Industrial Arts Educator and taught metal shop and auto mechanics at Southeast High School in Oklahoma City until his retirement in 1985. Frank is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Mary Lynn Westerbelt, his three sisters, Lois Norman Schuster, Doris Coulter, and Ila Christensen, and his friend and companion of latter years, Marie Hoult. Frank was a life time member of the National Rifle Association, and also a member of the Oklahoma City Gun Club and Oklahoma Rifle Association. Visitation will be Monday September 3, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Smith & Kernke, 1401 NW 23rd. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, September 4th, 2012 also at Smith & Kernke. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
