Gene Long, 85, died February 14, 2011, formerly from Chandler & Stroud, both located in Lincoln, County, he spent the last 14 years in Edmond. He enlisted in the Navy in 1944, saw action during WWII aboard the USS Rankin, stationed in the Pacific, & was honorably discharged in 1946. He resumed his education at OSU (formerly OKLA A & M) & received his Bachelor's degree in Agriculture. Upon graduation his first job was to help other veterans in the field of agriculture as a Veteran's Instructor. He married Faye Wayland on July 9, 1954. On August 9, 1955, their only child Lisa Jeannine was born. He is survived by his devoted wife Faye of 56 years & his daughter, Lisa Jeannine & son-in-law, Jeff & grandson, Jordan Smith as well as his brother, Dr. Jack Long, PhD. & wife Bertanell & their three children Keith, Kathy & Jan Ellen. A private service was held & a Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. Notice will be sent later as to date & location.
