Gene Troy Keeton was born February 4, 1922, and de¬parted this life on July 15, 2012. He was born in Ar¬dmore, OK and as a child moved to Texas. When he was twelve his family re¬turned to Ardmore where he was raised and met the love of his life, Helen Lou¬ise Hitt. They were married July 10, 1942, just before he enlisted in the Air Force serving our country in WWII in both China and India. He returned home in 1945 and after working a short time as a welder in a shipyard in California, moved to OKC where he learned the heat and air conditioning busi¬ness. He worked for Com¬fort, Inc. and later Natkin Service Company, retiring in 1980. They moved to Lake Eufaula where he and Lou¬ise spent 30 wonderful years surrounded by terrif¬ic friends and neighbors. He loved fishing and anything outdoors. They also enjoyed pulling their travel trailer to south Texas for many win-ters, traveling with their T & O travel friends. Prior to retirement, he left his home church, Putnam City Baptist, and became a charter mem¬ber of Cherokee Hills Bap¬tist Church, leading their music program for three years. Gene is survived by his wife of 70 years, Louise, a daughter, Helen Gerberd¬ing and husband, Dan and a son, Gerald and wife, Judy, as well as five grandchildren and three great-grandchil¬dren. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thurs¬day, July 19th at Smith and Kernke Chapel with inter¬ment to follow in Anthony, KS.
