One special plane, a Piper Tri-Pacer painstakingly restored by Mr. Gallaspy, won several awards and trophies. He was often accompanied by his wife and their beloved miniature Schnauzer, or by one of his many lifelong airport buddies. When George wasn't tinkering with airplanes, he often helped friends and family repair or restore anything from old cars to player pianos. In addition to George's wife, JoAnn, he is survived by his daughter, Sherri (Michael) Coughlin; son, Joe Gallaspy; brother, William Gallaspy; and sister, Myralin Whitaker, and many nieces and nephews.
