Our beloved "Papa" George M. Drew, 88, died peacefully June 18, 2013. He was one of ten children born to the late Vera and August Drew in Harrah, OK on November 27, 1924. It was there after high school, that he met and married his absolute love, Martha Lucy Kusek on July 30, 1955. He ever-so begrudgingly left the life of pick-ups and pastures and moved to OKC to begin a family. Over the course of his career, he dedicated his service to Roberson Steel and National Casket Company, before culminating in his retirement from Macklanburg Duncan in 1987.
Papa George enjoyed the simpler pleasures of life. Despite his city surroundings, farming never left his soul. When not making his weekly trek back to his farm in Harrah to tend to his cattle and share a "cold one" with his brothers, you would find him meticulously cultivating his garden at home. He was never too far from a farm pond, with his fishing pole resting at its banks.
More importantly though, Dad dedicated his life to his family, our Mom and Christ. They have been devoted members of The Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help since 1955.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Florence, Frances, Helen, Evelyn and Marie; his brothers Joe and Edward. He is survived by his sister and brother Cathy Curtis and Mike; our gracious Mom- Martha, who was his tirelessly devoted caregiver until his passing; as well as, by his daughter Janice and her husband Andrew; his sons George Jr. and his wife Paula; Richard and his wife Christina; Steve and grandchildren; Dillard, Reed, Connor, Drew, Allison and Kristen.
