Gerald Jene Hurst

Gerald "Jerry" Jene Hurst was born November 23rd, 1926, and left this life peacefully at home, on December 27th, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents Orval and Inez Hurst. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jane Hurst, his children and spouses, Ken Hurst, Jene and Eldon Huckabay and David and Sallie Hurst. He is also survived by five grandchildren and spouses, Brian and Mayra Huckabay, Jonathan and Sara Huckabay, Austin and Alissa Huckabay, Rebecca Hurst and Michael and Ashlyn Hurst, and four great-grandchildren, Hayden, Hanna, Hollis and Alex. Jerry served in the Navy in WWII at the age of 18. After discharge in 1946 he attended Oklahoma University. He and Jane Parker were married January 24th, 1952 and made their home in Oklahoma City. He rose to the position of Vice President with American Fidelity Assurance and retired after 40 years of service to the company. He was involved in the growth at American Fidelity from the addition of the first computer system, to hiring the next generation who would continue the growth of the company. His favorite activities were golf, OU sports, Big 12 football and attending grandchildren's activities. "We grew up in a house with lots of love and support and Dad had a great lap to spend the Sunday afternoon horror movies in." "Dad was always available to discuss life and job issues and would help us arrive at the best decision."
