Gerald (Gerry) Wayne Danley Jr. was born July 11, 1959 to Gerald and Freda Danley in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He gained his heavenly wings on January 21, 2018. Gerry was a family man who never met a stranger.
Gerry graduated high school from Turpin, Oklahoma in 1979. He then attended college at SCCC in Liberal, Kansas as well as SWOSU in Weatherford to play baseball. While at SCCC he met his wife, Karen. They had three daughters and laid their roots in nearby Turpin. While there, Gerry was active in the community; from volunteer firefighter, to organizing AAU basketball teams, and refereeing he was always busy. The AAU High Plains Storm team he helped organize for his daughters is still an active team, which his oldest granddaughter plays on to this day. Gerry was also very active within the OSSAA. He began refereeing while in High School, calling middle school games. Gerry had the honor of calling many State Tournament games and later in life evaluated referees to help them become better, even helping with referee camps.
Gerry and Karen moved to Cashion in early 2000, where all three of their girls graduated high school. Here, Gerry was active in every aspect of the school; from FFA to All-Sports, he volunteered his time to help better the school. He helped found the FFA Booster Bash, served on many committees, volunteered time to cook for football and FFA, and anything else asked of him. He was an active member of the Lions Club, serving as President and Vice President for many years. He truly believed in bettering the community and people within this small town.
