Gertrude Stillwell White left this world for heaven on Oct. 26, 2020 after a lengthy illness. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Gertrude, or Trudy as her friends and family knew her, was born in Bethany, Oklahoma, on July 27, 1942. Trudy graduated from Bethany High School in 1960 and from Bethany Nazarene College, now Southern Nazarene University, in 1964. Trudy earned a master's degree from West Texas State University. She then spent her career educating children at various schools across three states, concluding with 17 years teaching seventh and eighth grade at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School in Warr Acres. Trudy was preceded in death by her parents Ora Essie and Benjamin Garland Stillwell and her stepfather Alvis Bybee, three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jerry Don White; her sisters, Bonnie Mitchell and Juanita Gutierrez; her three sons, Benjamin, Christopher and Jeremy; and nine grandchildren. Trudy is a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and her Mass of Christian Burial will be held there at 10:00 AM, Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, followed by a graveside service at Resurrection Cemetery in Oklahoma City. A viewing will be held on Friday Oct. 30, 10 AM to 6 PM at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home at 1401 NW 23rd St. in Oklahoma City.
